Now that I'm here I'm not sure what to say. I am a fan of your voiceover work, knowing you mostly from the video games "Diablo" and "Starcraft" (like many young men), but also because a career in voiceover is a path I would love to take. Other heroes, besides your good self, include Richard Burton, Piera Coppola and Frank Oz. I have just stopped by to say how much I appreciate your work and wish you many great returns. Thankyou for your time.

Umm, It's my Live Journal... not that you'd be interested.
After years of wanting to ask you why the heck I don't hear your voice more often, I finally googled you, and whaddya know? a website. Anyways, I just wanted to say that you are hands down my favorite female voice actor, ever, despite the fact that your body of work is less than expansive. The Maxx literally changed my life, and I think you were an intrumental part of why it impacted me so heavily. I still force all my friends to sit down and watch it.

On a side note, I was wondering how it is that you got into this business. Voice acting I mean. this is the first time I've known that you're also a novelist. Congrats on that as well by the way.

anyways, I'm babbling like a star-struck fanboy, which, I guess, in this instance, I am. But hey, drop me a line, and maybe I'll calm down enough to be coherant, yes?

Congratulations on some great work... it's always a pleasure to hear roles voiced convincingly with skill and feeling - some of the horrid VA that game companies inflict upon their customers is unforgivable :(

It's good to see that Blizzard employs professionals like yourself.

Cheers!

Hi Ms. Talken, I just wanted to say that The Maxx had a major impact on my perspective, and your skills definitely contributed to that. Like a lot of people here, I think it is VERY frustrating to see so much crap animation, while art like The Maxx floats around in oblivion. I see DVDs of it on eBay now, but after I first saw it 8 years ago on MTV, I could never find a copy again. Last week I did, and there's no word to explain the nostalgic elation watching it again has given me.

Surprise, surprise! What a treat to find that Glynnis’ words (spoken and written) have accompanied me (or taken me) on so many adventures!

Humm. . . how do I put this. . . Glynnis Campbell (Talken), your writing is sublime, lyrical empathy. I enjoy your unrivaled gift for description and metaphor and encourage you to take up plume in hand (or as the case most likely is: keyboard) and bless your readers with more of your happy world. < - - - Strong hint here.

I am amused that my lengthy adventures as Blizzard’s Rogue, Amazon and Protoss had unknowingly bought me the voice of an admired author.

Yes I have! And I'd like to show my support and say Good Work! WHile you might not be reminded of it too often, your work is appreciated, and i loved both Rogue and kerrigan... Nothing's like a good word for a job well done, and i hope your talent will be a part of the next biggest game of the millenium, so millions of gamers can enjoy the amazing voiceovers.
Once again, keep up the good work, and i want to listen to more deathscreams in Starcraft 2!

Wow, well, what do I say? I suppose, that I am a fan of your work ^_^. I've always found voice acting interesting I suppose, enough that I've dabbled a little in it non-professionally myself.

Anywho, before I break into my usual tedency to ramble on, I wanted to say great work, and to keep on voice acting! Sad that voice actors aren't as well known, they should be, dag-nabbit!

Well, that's all I have to say! Oh, no wait, could you PLEASE help us with a StarCraft fan-campaign we're working on? We only have a few dozen million measly female lines or so that you would have to do, for no money or credit whatsoever... I'm *KIDDING*! ^_^

Don't let those voice talents get rusty!

I am interested in becoming a prosessional voiceover artist, and I was wondering if you could give me any advice or pointers to start me in the right direction. I plan to move to California after I finish my theatre degree and persue formal training, but beyond that I'm looking for any advice I can get. Thanks for your time!

The MaXX was the tighest. Julia was one of my favorite characters in any story (If only she were real..) and you brought her to life. I wish they had continued the series though. They stopped adapting it to TV after a certain point though which sucked. It had life and brain and emotion in it unlike all the stale, teeny-booper, brain-dead crap they show now. The only intelligent show on MTV anymore is Daria but they barely show that. Anyways I DO know why they canceled it and every other oddities show:They needed room for more mindless shows like the Real World and Road Rules and as Butthead once said "Like all the shows that suck, ya gotta put em' somewhere." Unfortunately that place was MTV and they displaced a creative masterpiece. I'd ask you to E-mail me but my brother crashed the computer and then a hacker destroyed my internet account out of pure maliciousness. Later on.

Wow! it's cool to finally put a face to the voice of Julie winters. The Maxx was my favorite comic until Sam Keith lost his muse. After the show when I was reading subsequent issues of the Maxx, it was your voice I heard when julie spoke. Thank you for being a part of one of my favorite things. I am pretty sure I've heard you do voice-over for radio ads. I hope that and the rest of your career continues along happily

Hey there! I've emailed you once or twice, got a reply back once.
Anyway, just thought I'd say hi. I was impressed to find out you were on the Starcraft game.
Anyway, I was STILL wondering if I was related to you or if our same last name is merely coincidental.
If you're at all curious as well, email me and we can compare histories.

I never knew that the rogue, Kerrigan, and the medic where all related. I never knew that was true untill coming here. Hmmmm, begging you wont tell us what voices youll be doing and i guess a hint is out of the question. I think youll be probably doing the Amazon or maybe the Sorceress. I guess we'll just have to wait and see :)

ShadowDragon is in AOF and pointed your site out to us.. I was listening to some of your music and have to say I especially like the song Robert Allen. You do a good job of manipulating your voice because the Rogue, Gillian, and Kerrigan do have hints of similarities but still all sound different. I can't wait to figure out which voice is yours in D2. I dont think it would be to far fetched to say that you are most likely doing the voice for the Amazon and maybe Sorceress? Though I know you can't comment on it yet. When are you able to? When the beta is released this month or not until the official release? Thanks, inquiring minds want to know.. heh :)

You know, until I saw your credits I didn't know that the rogue and Kerrigan were done by the same person. It seems obvious now. I want to say that you did an excellent job! The Blizzard folks really do a great job on their talent searches. I am glad to hear you are back for DiabloII. I'll look forward to hearing from you. (You know, that sounded much better in my head than down in print. Sorry!)

Hey nice page!
I'm sorry it took me untill now to tune in to your talents. I bought Diablo the day it was released in England, and Starcraft but it wasn't untill a week ago I appreciated how good Kerrigan sounded. Then playing diablo I noticed she was in that as well. Finding out she was also Gillian the barmaid with that sick grandma was too much though. After a few days I found this page here I am, those Cafe clips really good and I may have to get a copy when Amazon stocks em again!
Please though could you at least let us know whether Blizzard are using you for a sequal?
Any chance of a personal recording
e.g "Hey James it's Glynnis bet you didn't think I would go to the trouble did you?" Oh well i'm asking too much. Good luck in the future and if Blizzard don't use you again do some more singing!!!
Cheers, Jim

Sarah Kerrigan and the "Rogue" would have never been the same without you! Not having your voice (as well as your talented costars) would have been like Indiana Jones without the John Williams theme song! I always make sure I talk to the 'dead/dying guy' in Diablo just to hear you say, "Your death WILL be avenged!" =)

Glynnis! First off, kudos on your brilliant work on Diablo, StarCraft, Brood War, The Maxx, the Star Wars audio books and all your other projects. You're a very distinctive talent and I'm sure you'll continue to shine even brighter. I'm not sure if you keep up at all with the StarCraft community beyond starring in the games and keeping up with the most general info, but I'm curious to know if you've heard of The Antioch Chronicles (my brain-child campaign). If you have, then you might recognize my name. If not, stop by antioch.tech-base.com and give it a look. (I certainly think it's better than those sloppy third-party add-ons, Insurrection and Retaliation--or is it Retribution?--bah, who cares?) Episode I has already received tons of (positive) reviews and has been featured on PC Gamer, and the long-awaited Episode II is now in production (with WAY better sound ;-). Just wondering if you'd get a kick out of playing it. Oh, and I also share your passion for all things medieval, as well as for the crafting of an engrossing novel. Best of luck in all things, and feel free to E-mail me. =)

What can I say? The Maxx is truly a thought provoking comic and television series, and I can't wait until the day comes when maybe it'll start showing on MTV again, or when the comics come back out--the part I love most of all is how realistic the story is, yet it's not; it's actually the most far-out plot since The Neverending Story mixed with A Clockwork Orange; I suppose I'm the oddball out of all my friends b/c they're not so enthralled by that stuff, but what can a fifteen year old girl do in a society built upon superficial grounds and self-righteous attitudes? Anyway I won't take up your time with anymore of that--alls I can say is keep workin, honey!! You're an awesome Julie!! Good luck! Buh bye, Dana P.S. If you read this and have maybe two seconds to spare, you can E-mail me and it would make me smile really big...

When examining the character of The Rogue, it is necessary to consider the sexual dichotomy inherent in the video game genre. The Rogue exists as what is called the "Female Warrior" archetype (Collins, 1997) exhibiting many of the obligatory traits. She is given the advantage of speed over strength, in what has been described as a patriarchal concession (Rondberg, 1998) in order to satisfy the requirements of the Equal Opportunities in Video Games act of 1995. She is also described as being more proficient with magic, another convention of the industry. It implies that women are more in touch with the ethereal than their male counterparts. It has been suggested that this is in part due to the ability of women to give birth, to create life, certainly an ability that can be seen as supernatural (Collins, 1997). But at what price do we affix these amenities to women in the genre? Will there one day come a time when women are allowed to be shown as being of equal quality to men? The ability to increase one's attributes in Diablo allows for the Rogue's potential to be expanded, but even given an infinite amount of attribute points, she will never be as strong as the Fighter can be. It is the "glass ceiling" of the gaming industry. Though the Rogue has taken large steps towards equality, she shows that we still have a long way to go.
