Do you know why X = Kiss? In medieval times, the Cross was drawn on documents as a symbol of sincerity, similar to the concept of swearing on the Bible. A kiss would then be placed upon the Cross to verify that oath. With time and a lack of literacy, the Cross eventually became an X, and we still place it at the bottom of letters! (Nobody really knows why O = Hug.)

It's Scottish Festival season again! On Saturday, April 10, I'll be signing books all day at the Kern County Scottish Games and Gathering at the Kern County Fairgrounds. There will be lots of bagpipe music, caber tossing, and men in kilts! If you're in the area, stop by and say hello.
